Terence Crosbie was charged last week with rape, the Suffolk County District Attorney said.
A 28-year-old woman told police at Massachusetts General Hospital that she had been sexually assaulted at the Omni Parker House early on March 15, the prosecutor said. Investigators found surveillance video of Crosbie and the alleged victim at the hotel and at a bar the night before the incident.
Crosbie was in the United States with members of his fire brigade from Dublin. They flew in on March 14 and were scheduled to leave on March 19. But after police interviewed Crosbie, he changed his flight to leave that night, the prosecutor said. Once he got to Boston Logan Airport, he boarded and even earlier flight bound for Dublin.
Police stopped the plane and removed Crosbie from the flight.
Crosbie's attorney denied to WCVB that he was trying to flee the country because he did anything wrong. Rather, he could not reach legal counsel or speak to anyone at the consulate because it was closed, and he panicked.
